How is the area around Fordham University? (Rose Hill campus)?
I am planning on visiting the Rose Hill campus this spring break. I have heard a thing or two about the area of Bronx, NY but I am aware that Fordham is a very nice school (especially the Rose Hill campus). However, I was wondering how the area is around and outside of the school? Is it safe? Is it nice? Is it dirty or clean? Are the people friendly and kind? Please feel free to give any additional comments, advice, and/or suggestions. Also do any of you recommend any hotels I should consider checking into? (preferably close to the Rose Hill campus and in a nice area). Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Lol I am born and raised in the Bronx. I pass Fordham University everyday. It is the most beautiful college campus I've ever seen. However, the surrounding area/community of the school is unfortunately not as nice. Many government projects and apartment buildings. In other words, really ghetto. Due to the amount of poverty stricken people living in the area, I would assume the crime rate is pretty high
(I'm pretty sure there are fact to back up my hypothesis). However, there are plenty of police presents throughout the area. Fordham Rd. is pretty clean but if you take a left or right on any block and walk about 2 blocks, you will see what "we" call "the hood" lol. The people are pretty friendly, but no offense to you but Fordham University students stick out like a soar thumb. I don't believe there are any hotels in the bronx. There is a motel near by but your better off calling the admissions office to find out if you can bunk there for a couple of nights. I don't think there would be a problem. Especially because you are a prospective student. I hope my answer helped. Good Luck
