Raheem DeVaughn: The Love and War MasterPeace Double CD on March 2nd
In the first release of Raheem DeVaughn’s double CD with Jive Records set to hit the streets March 2nd, Bulletproof is politically charged with protest against the war and violence in inner cities all over a smooth groove in true Marvin Gaye style. We’re living like we’re bulletproof, Raheem says his new album, The Love and War MasterPeace, is some of his best work to date and that it is socially balanced because he’s not only talking about love but other topics that are important to him. He credits Marvin Gaye, Prince, Eric Robeson and W. Ellington Felton as his main influences for the neo-soul and timeless songs created in his music. While enjoying a new level of exposure, Raheem has been pretty popular for a while and never left his fate in someone else’s hands. He performed at open mics, released four independent albums, and built a name and following for himself in his hometown of Washington, DC. He got the attention of radio personality Michael Baisden during the Jena 6 protest and Baisden became a huge supporter. Raheem has also landed himself a role in the movie Who Do You Love, the story of Leonard Chess, the founder of Chess Records which was located in Bronzeville at 2120 South Michigan Avenue. Who Do You Love is schedule to be released on DVD this spring. DeVaughn recently performed in Chicago and is set to return the weekend of February 27th during the Nation of Islam’s Saviours’ Day. His new album, The Love and War MasterPeace is scheduled to be released March 2nd on Jive Records. You can keep up with Raheem DeVaughn on Twitter by tweeting Radio Rah.
