Presidential Nomination: Judge Sharon Johnson Coleman
Photo: Leila Khaled From the White House: Sharon Johnson Coleman, of Illinois to be United States District Judge for the Northern District of Illinois, vice Mark R. Filip, resigned. From the Illinois Courts: Judge Coleman was elected to the Illinois Appellate Court, First District, in 2008. From 1996 until 2008 she served as a circuit court judge in Cook County. Judge Coleman was assigned to the child protection division for 2 ½ years. She served nearly 10 years as a jury trial judge in the law division. During her pre-judicial career, she served as an Assistant State’s Attorney, Deputy State’s Attorney and an Assistant U.S. Attorney. Judge Coleman received her juris doctorate degree from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis.
