My first official act as Queen of My Destiny was to banish petty people from my kingdom. But I must’ve done it in 2009 cause I’m surrounded by good folks and keep meeting more!

Dwayne Hirsch
Can’t wait to see the paper! I need to do some banishing myself!

Calvin Toone
No more major time with minor people

What event touched you the most in 2009? What is your focus and priority in 2010? What should we do collectively in 2010? Who are you voting for on February 2nd and why? Who are you NOT voting for and why? How is the President doing?

Haywan Richardson
Off the top of my head what comes to mind as an event that touched me in 2009 was how the death of Michael Jackson impacted the world...instant and intense.

Michael Smith
I’m a Candidate for 2nd district county commissioner, the southside has never been truly represented by the 2nd district elected commissioners, thats why our people should kick out the dems and reps and vote GREEN.

Carol L Adams
The election of Barack Obama as President of the United States is the event that touched me most, as it touched the world! My focus in 2010 is on making the DuSable’s Museum’s rise to world class eminence ALL OF OUR BUSINESS. Collectively we must realize that, if we work together we can rule the world, AGAIN!! I’m voting for Cheryle Jackson for US Senate because she is well qualified for this position and I refuse to believe that we don’t see the importance of keeping this seat. Only Chicago can assure that a Black person has a seat in the US Senate. We better work!

Dwayne Hirsch
For me, the biggest event was the inauguration of President Obama. To stand in view of something that my ancestors would have never thought possible, created an emotion for me that I had never felt. In 2010 my focus is on more on MY business interests and MY goals, which include opening 3 School Zone Stores in the Chicagoland Area and an Independent Distribution business of VIP Premium Energy. My resolution is 1080p-HD!!!

Chris Moore
From this line of thought, I endeavor to say that the element which moved me the most, was the reality that “People Power” can make a difference. Even President Barack Obama is at the mercy of institutional interest if the general populous falls to sleep just because he occupies the seat. As Kwame Toure once said,”...electoral politics are only good during election time...the majority of policies that impact our people [happen after the ballots are counted].” We elect and appoint many Black officials but to what extentdoes this actually improve the
condition of the people? The 3M Enterprise still rule: Money, Missionary and the Military. My goal is to continue to promote independent economics by fully launching www.sportyorty.com as a project under our consultant firm LaTanCh Management Services.

Michael Smith
Anyone that watched the healthcare debate shows why blacks should drop the democratic and republican party hands down.

Brand New Boots in Bronzeville. How much is the city making a day? Hmmm, I wonder.

Eunice Smith
at first, i thought this was a good thing (thinking fashion of course)...

Bronzeville Metropolis
Cute!

Nurrie Muhammad
That’s an extremely relevant question. Relavant to what you ask.....relavant to all the financial woes Chicago Illinois has/is/will experience(d)(ing). .

Linda D. Williams
As you know, the city hit block after block after block in Bronzeville a few days before Christmas. NO MERCY and such a sad sight to see right before the Holidays. Unfortunately, one of my neighbors was hit too.

Valencia Valentin
Not as much as it’s gonna make since parking box prices just went up!

Kimya Norene
This is soooo cruel!! after the holidaze? when peeps are readjusting whats in their balance sheets..This CITY IS COLDBLOODED...one solution...drive-less!!!

Camille Rollins
Has anyone ever thought about what those peple did or did not do to get the boot? They didn’t pay their tickets!! Not just one ticket...multiples. I don’t feel sorry for them. Okay, so it’s a recession and peole are loosing their jobs and don’t have money to pay the tickets. Then don’t park illegally...over and over and over again. And if you can’t afford to get the
registration and vehicle stickers then maybe it’s time to give up the car.

Linda D. Williams
@Bronzeville - I know and those darn BIG yellows can be devastating to a families livelihood (speaking from my own nightmare some years back). What can WE taxpayers do about it? I tell families and friends that live in other states about our boot drama and this type of crap is unheard of in other states.

Kimya Norene
Camille. do you remember the OLYMPIC BID? or recall the various site locations? first bulldozed housing projects..then condos.. then foreclosures..now land purveyors and investors and an abundance of yellow boots..whats NEXT? LINCOLN PARK?!!! The YELLOW IS A WARNING...im just sayin!!..I agree..to win is to lose the auto or DRIVE-LESS..its terrible peeps shud be outraged about this!! Its like the GRINCH on extended duty!!!...sad...

Valencia Valentin
AVOID THE BOOT LESSON 101: If you are BOOT eligible and know it: Rule 1. Don’t park on ANY city street during business hours -whether you pay the parking box or NOT - you can be booted! Rule 2. Do not park your boot eligible car at work if you are a city of Chicago employee - you can be booted at work (city property.) Rule 3. Pay your ticket within the 21 day period it was issued or it will DOUBLE!

Kimya Norene
WVON Matt and Perry show has started a write in complaint to aldermen/women to cease/review boot process..go to WVON.COM...sign petition!!!
