(Dec. 2, 2009)—On December 18, 2009 the Black Metropolis National Heritage Area Commission will host Bronzeville International III: Urban Innovations, an all-day conference that expands the vision to develop and promote Bronzeville as the premiere international African American heritage tourism destination. Congressman Bobby Rush has re-introduced a national study bill, H.R.4004: Black Metropolis National Heritage Area Study Act, with bi-partisan support to designate Chicago's historic Black Belt as a significant American Story. This year's Summit will announce the commemorative plans for a year-long celebration of The Great Migration Centennial, 1916 – 2016.

The Commission invites community members to engage in a variety of education, entertainment and economic events that will promote Bronzeville as a top destination among residents, visitors, tourists and international travelers in 2016.

The Summit, sponsored by the Illinois Bureau of Tourism, will feature the preservation efforts and community development projects outlined in the Great Migration Centennial Resolution, SJR0067, which was introduced by IL State Senator Mattie Hunter. A Heritage Breakfast hosted by Gozaic.com features a new partnership with the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The luncheon keynote by Quintin E. Primo III, Chairman and CEO of Capri Capital Partners LLC addresses the topic of "Investing in Placemaking" and will provide attendees with a developer's perspective on the challenges and opportunities for economic development in the urban marketplace.

The afternoon panel discussions will focus on technology, transportation, and heritage tourism collaborations. Recent developments in neighborhood travel and hospitality amenities by Bronzeville's local entrepreneurs will be also showcased. The Institute for Responsible Hospitality culminates the Summit with a hands-on workshop on developing Heritage Entertainment Zones. The Summit registration includes information materials and a holiday networking reception. Advanced registration is required: www.BlackMetropolisNHA.com
