A Life of Dreams

By Gavi Henderson, 10 years old

Photo: Thomas Schoch - Children in Namibia

Life is as hard as poker cards
Dreams are as big as a hawks’ wings
Life shouldn’t keep you from your dreams.
You are a star that beams through the night
While everyone has gone night - night

You think you hard?
Life is hard, trust me I know
You‘re not some poker cards
you are a human being with a dream.
Become a team and build your dream.

Life is a thing where you bring your self
To be the salt of the Earth and let your light shine for others to see,
because you are a star.

Life brings the good and the bad,
Save your soul,
Before your bones get old,
Life is cold like a pot of mold

Life is a burst of surprises
Best pray that you don’t get Hurst [sic].
God will not let you go without the curse.
So trust in God as you trust in yourself.
Because God never makes a mistake.

Life is a thing where we all bring a thing like a dream.

Once a task begun never leave it
Until it’s done, do the labor great or small,
Do it well or not at all and that’s life!
